Nocode Maker: the job of tomorrow

Nocode Maker, also known as Nocode Developer, is a new profession that is becoming increasingly popular, given the emerging need for companies to be more efficient internally and to innovate. We'll take a look at the different specializations of the Nocode Maker and, more generally, at who Nocode is aimed at, to understand in more detail why these profiles are increasingly in demand.

Nocode Maker: what is it about?

Just like a traditional developer, a Nocode Maker is at the heart of the design of digital solutions, and must follow the same development methodologies. They need to have a real "product" culture and a sense of organization.

But unlike a developer, he will use Nocode (code-free) tools to carry out his projects. In other words, development software that doesn't require programming skills.

What can we do with Nocode?

The use cases are numerous but here are the main ones:

  • Creation of showcase or e-commerce sites. Webflow and Shopify are widely used for these projects.
  • Realization of internal tools such as ERP (information system), CRM (Customer Relationship Management) for the follow-up of prospects and customers. Bubble is ideal for their design.
  • Web app or mobile application development. Bubble and Glide are ideal for application creation.
  • Automate processes such as reporting, editing and sending invoices, sending notifications when a new prospect is detected. Make, Zapier or Airtable will be very useful!

Specializations and missions of the Nocode Maker

Maker Automation

With the emergence of Nocode, more and more companies are realizing the extent of automation they can achieve in-house without the use of code. Today, this skill is highly sought-after on the job market. This specialization is also known as Nocode Ops.

Whether it's to avoid human error or to boost productivity, automation skills add great value to team performance and well-being. The use of tools by Nocode developers enables operational staff to concentrate on more creative and strategic tasks, without the need to master code, and by simplifying work processes.

Platforms used: Zapier, Make (ex-Integromat), n8n, Airtable, Notion

Maker Front

The Maker Front specializes in the functional and visual aspects of the sites or applications they design. The developer ensures that the user experience is as fluid, practical and pleasant as possible.

A good knowledge of UX/UI (User Experience / User Interface) and skills in website building and automation tools are essential to become an excellent Maker Front. However, you don't need to master code to excel in this field.

Applications used: Webflow, Bubble, WeWeb

Full Stack Maker

This profile is more complete and must cover all the issues of software design, namely

  • Security and role management
  • Logic with databases
  • The functionality and usability of an application
  • Documentation for collaboration with designers and product managers.

Tools used: Bubble, PowerApps, PowerAutomate

Who is the Nocode for?

Absolutely everyone. Indeed, mastering code is very complicated, and so mastering Nocode will undoubtedly become indispensable when looking for a job. In fact, we're starting to see these skills take their place in CVs, just as we used to see Excel just about everywhere.

To get more concrete, here is who can benefit from Nocode:

Business creators

The barrier between ideas and their realization is often immense. In the case of software design, or in the digital sector more generally, the need for Nocode developers is extremely great.

Until recently, it was unthinkable to set up a business without a technical profile, such as a developer with expertise in one or more programming languages. But these profiles are extremely expensive, and many project owners can't afford to start up for this reason.

By learning Nocode quickly, they can try out first versions on their own, and test the market to see if the strategic direction they're taking is the right one. What's more, using these code-free tools means they can iterate quickly and make adjustments based on user feedback.

Freelance

It's well known. Freelancing is a job of self-employment. It means that you have to manage your prospecting, your clients and your finances. In the end, it's less time to focus on what she does best and what she is really paid for.

Nocode is a very popular skill among freelancers, as it enables them to automate many small, repetitive tasks, such as editing quotes and invoices, without the need to master code.

Companies already structured

When a company reaches a critical size, it becomes complicated to get the different teams to work together. It's important to create solid processes at the expense of the agility it used to have at less than 20 employees.

Moreover, the "technical" and "product" teams have little or no time available for business teams such as marketing, finance or sales. Yet, the needs are real:

  • Marketing may want to add elements to the website
  • Sales people would like to automate the sending of prospecting emails
  • Finance wants to automate its reports.

Nocode can help these companies regain the agility they once had, while adhering to solid processes that then enable them to scale up without relying on costly and limited code skills. Nocode makes business teams more autonomous.

Developers

Surprising as it may be, Nocode is a perfect ally for mainstream developers. While these tools don't require programming skills or code expertise to produce excellent projects, knowledge of code concepts and technical jargon can be a real asset.

There's no doubt that developers have the right reflexes and methodologies for software development. What's more, they will generally be better placed to deliver complex projects such as internal tools for companies, using no code or Lowcode.

Nocode is above all an evolution of development tools. Just as libraries and frameworks have been. A developer must not reinvent the wheel. He has to make sure he is always as productive as possible.

This is a real opportunity for them and a complementary tool to their advanced programming skills - which will be useful for very specific subjects.

Alegria.academy

It cannot be repeated enough: only 0.3% of the world's population knows how to code, while the need for technical skills continues to grow over the years. The shortage is becoming more and more pronounced and programming courses are too long to respond to this urgent problem.

This is why Alegria.group has taken the gamble of setting up the first Nocode School over 15 months. 3 months of full-time training and 12 months of work-study with a project-based approach - to progress and develop technical skills in demand on the job market.
